With their cars loaded with household cleaners and old motor oil many Green Country residents took advantage of the Metropolitan Environmental Trust’s Hazmat collection on Saturday. The M.E.T is collecting containers of pesticide, cleaners, oil, antifreeze, mercury and old prescription drugs.

"We're trying to make your home safer, the community safer, and the planet safer by accepting these items free of charge from the public for today and tomorrow," said Julie Alexander with the Metropolitan Environmental Trust.

The M.E.T will not take old tires or latex paints. The collection event runs thru Sunday, March 25th. To drop off potentially hazardous household items you can go to the Drillers Stadium parking lot at the Tulsa Fairgrounds between the hours of 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
