LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) _ Trainers are checking on Detroit Tigers shortstop Carlos Guillen. He hurt his right ankle or foot and limped off the field during Saturday's exhibition game against the Atlanta Braves in Lakeland.

Guillen fouled off a pitch from Tim Hudson and the baseball seemed to hit his lower leg.

He walked gingerly toward the clubhouse with trainer Kevin Rand in the 3rd inning.

Guillen was one of the key players for the AL champs. He hit .320 with 19 homers and 85 RBIs last season.
