UNDATED (AP) _ Kansas assistant basketball coach Tim Jankovich has accepted the head coaching job at Illinois State, according to Jayhawks head coach Bill Self. An announcement was expected by Illinois State Tuesday.
Jankovich will replace Porter Moser, who was fired March 5th after going 51-67 over four seasons. The Redbirds finished 15-16 this year, including an opening-round loss to Indiana State in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament.
Georgia State and Northern Illinois also have found new men's basketball coaches.
Former Mississippi coach Rod Barnes is the new coach at Georgia State. The 2001 national coach of the year spent eight years at Ole Miss and took the Rebels to the NCAA tournament in three of his first four years there. Barnes replaces Michael Perry who was fired two weeks ago.
Northern Illinois has hired Ricardo Patton to take over the hoops program. Patton spent eleven years as Colorado's coach, taking the Buffaloes to the post season six times. He replaces the fired Rob Judson.
