DAVIS, Okla. (AP) -- Davis Mayor Michael Summers looks ready to head to court over charges he took money from his day job at an office supply store.
Summers pleaded not guilty in Carter County District Court to charges of obtaining money by false pretenses. The case has been placed on the April trial docket.
The 33-year-old Summers was charged in January after an investigation by the Ardmore Police Department. He's accused of crediting his debit card with false refunds while working as a manager at the Staples store in Ardmore.
Summers is still mayor and was unopposed in the most recent election. He's slated to begin a new term April 16th.
If convicted, Summers could face up to ten years in prison on each of the charges.
