OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) â€“ Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn, a Republican, is suggesting the firing of eight federal prosecutors was not handled very well.

Coburn is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and says the handling of the firings shows "idiocy on the part of the administration."

Democrats are accusing the U.S. Justice Department of playing politics and several of the fired prosecutors say they were improperly pressured by Republicans on pending cases.
