STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) _ Will Whittington scores 31 points as Marist upsets Oklahoma State 67-to-64 in a first-round game in the National Invitation Tournament.
Marist is only the third nonconference opponent to win at OSU's Gallagher-Iba Arena in the Cowboys' last 140 games against such teams.
The Red Foxes are 25-and-8 and will play North Carolina State in the second round.
OSU closes its season at 22-and-13.
Marist's largest lead Tuesday night came at 47-to-30 with 16 minutes left before OSU rallied behind the 3-point shooting of Terrel Harris.
Harris went 3-of-4 from behind the arc and scored all 11 of his points in the second half.
OSU pulled within 65-64 with 43.7 seconds on a 3-pointer by Obi Muonelo. Whittington, who went 10-of-10 from the free-throw line, made two free throws with 8-point-5 seconds left.
The Red Foxes fouled OSU's Byron Eaton with 3 seconds left. Eaton missed both free throws, the second deliberately. The rebound went to Muonelo, who missed a 3-point attempt at the buzzer.
