OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahoma State will play Bowling Green in a first-round NCAA women's basketball tournament game, the Cowgirls' first appearance in the event since 1996.
10th-seeded OSU is 20-and-10 while Mid-American Conference tournament champion Bowling Green is 29-and-3 and seeded 7th. They will meet Sunday in East Lansing, Michigan.
OSU was picked to finish last in the Big 12 Conference during the preseason, but instead finished 8-8 league play.
The Cowgirls lost to Kansas in a first-round league tournament game last Tuesday, leaving themselves placed firmly on the NCAA tournament bubble until Monday night.
Should OSU beat Bowling Green, the Cowgirls would play either econd-seeded Vanderbilt or 15th-seeded Delaware State in the second round.
OSU is 4-and-7 all-time in NCAA tournament games, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 1991.
Last season, the Cowgirls went winless in Big 12 play. This season, they've won at least 20 games for the eighth time in the program's history.
