OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Governor Brad Henry today praised the Oklahoma Senate for passing a bill to establish the Oklahoma Bioenergy Center.
By a 45-1 vote, the Senate passed the bill that Henry says will make Oklahoma a global leader in renewable energy.The bill establishes the Oklahoma Bioenergy Center to coordinate research and development of biofuels at Oklahoma State University, the University of Oklahoma and the Ardmore-based Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation.
Henry says Oklahoma's expertise in energy and agricultural issues makes it ideally suited to be a leader in biofuels.
The bill authored by Senator Jay Paul Gumm of Durant now heads to a House committee.
