NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ DJ Mathis throws a five-inning no-hitter as Oklahoma beats Arkansas 14-0 using the run rule.
Mathis, a sophomore left-hander, struck out seven Wednesday and yielded her only baserunner when she walked pinch-hitter Hillary Freeman with one out in the fourth inning.
It was OU's first softball no-hitter since Kami Keiter and Dana Askins combined to hold Tulsa hitless in an 8-0 win on April 22nd, 2003, that went the full seven innings.
Samantha Ricketts homered and drove in five runs for OU, which is 17-and-oh and off to the best start in school history. Savannah Long added a two-run home run for the Sooners.
