The generosity of people in eastern Oklahoma is making a big difference for folks recovering from our massive ice storm. The News on 6 and Bank of Oklahoma presented a check Wednesday to the Baptist General Convention.
Baptist disaster relief teams helped thousands of storm victims during the January ice storm across eastern Oklahoma. News On 6 viewers opened their wallets to lend a helping hand through the Neighbors in Need drive. "For your viewers to give right at $24,000, it is fantastic and I can guarantee the money will be well used and will be used specifically for disaster relief," says Bob Green with the Baptist General Convention.
"We want to give back to the community and we're glad anytime to do our part and help to do something like this. We're just glad to partner with you to make this come to a reality," said Jim Holloman with the Bank of Oklahoma.
Volunteers served nearly 80,000 meals to people in shelters during the ice storm recovery.
