A suspect remains in a Tulsa hospital after two police officers opened fire at an apartment complex Sunday afternoon. It happened at Apache Manor in the 200 block of North Marion.

Tulsa Police say officers were just driving through the complex when a resident at the apartment complex said a man was walking around with a gun. Officers found the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Derek Brown, and tried to confront him, but he ran off. Tulsa Police chased Brown, and when they saw he was armed, they opened fire.

Several neighbors watched what happened. "He was sitting there talking to these little girls along the way whenever the cops pulled up, and that's when he started walking and they started to open up their car doors and stuff and that's when they started sprinting off," says Danna Olden.

Tulsa Police recovered a semi-automatic, 25-caliber pistol at the scene. Police say Brown remains hospitalized in serious condition with gunshot wounds to the torso and leg.

The police officers involved in the incident have been placed on restrictive duty pending the outcome of an investigation by the Tulsa Police Department.
