OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ As the first month of the state Legislature nears an end hundreds of bills have died in Senate committees , including 222 in one committee alone.

The state Senate Rules Committee was assigned 232 bills and passed only ten before Thursday's deadline.

A total of 1,161 bills and joint resolutions were proposed for the session and the exact number of bills still alive will be counted Monday.

Among the bills that got no hearing are several aimed at illegal immigration and one designating English as the state's official language.
