ANTLERS, Okla. (AP) -- An Antlers police officer suffered cuts, scratches and bruises after being dragged by a car across a parking lot. Police say Officer Jason Thomas was trying to arrest a drug suspect at the time.

Officer Thomas was injured after he reached inside the car to open the door and the driver drove away dragging Thomas more than 50 feet. Police say Thomas had stopped the car after seeing people walk up to it in an area known for drug activity.

Antlers Police Chief Dwayne Morgan says authorities later arrested Justin Trent in Choctaw County in connection with the case.

Trent is being held on $100,000 bond on charges of aggravated assault on a police officer, eluding an officer and false presentation.
