SALT LAKE CITY (AP) _ The first person hit by a gunman at a shopping mall was released from the hospital Monday, a week after he staggered into a restaurant to warn that a killer was on the loose.
Shawn Munns, 34, was discharged from LDS Hospital, spokesman Jess Gomez said.
He was among nine people shot at Trolley Square by Sulejman Talovic, 18. Five died, and Talovic was killed in a shootout with police.
Munns was leaving the mall alone after dinner with his family when Talovic peppered him with shots. With dozens of pellets in his side, he got to the Hard Rock Cafe to tell people to lock the door and call 911.
Another person was upgraded from serious to fair condition Monday, and two others remained in serious condition.
