ATOKA, Okla. (AP) -- A 16-year-old Atoka boy died Sunday in a one-vehicle crash on a rural Atoka County road.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Tanner Rains was driving north on a county gravel and dirt road about seven miles east and eight-and-a-half miles south of Atoka when the accident happened about 1:40 p.m.
Troopers say Rains was driving at an unsafe speed when his vehicle ran off the road and struck a tree. He was pinned for one-and-a-half hours before being freed by the Atoka Fire Department.
Rains died at the scene.
