OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The average weekly paycheck in Oklahoma is growing at the third highest rate in the nation.
Federal statistics show average weekly wages in Oklahoma were $639 during the second quarter of 2006.
The biggest gain in the Sooner state comes in the oil patch where oil field workers are earning an average of $1,312 a week. That's up from $994 a week during the second quarter of 2005.
Employees in the transportation and warehouse industry saw their weekly pay go up nearly 11 percent and those in the leisure and hospitality industry also saw a nearly 11 percent increase in pay.
Despite the increase the average weekly salary in Oklahoma is still below the national average of $784 a week.
