NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ After only one full season as Oklahoma's baseball coach, Sunny Golloway already has the Sooners measuring their success by the number of times they get to pile up on the middle of the field for a celebration.
In his first season, Golloway led OU to its first super-regional appearance since the Sooners went to the College World Series as the defending champions in 1995. The next step is getting back to that level.
Second baseman Aaron Reza says the Sooners just needed one more dog pile to get to the College World Series and two more to win a national title.
The Sooners ended last season one win shy of a trip to Omaha, Nebraska, where the championship is decided. They led Rice in the sixth inning of a decisive Game 3 in their super regional before losing 9-to-5.
OU lost the bulk of its offense and its starting rotation from last season, but Golloway brings in a touted freshman class that includes outfielder Devin Shepherd, a fifth-round draft pick by the Minnesota Twins last year.
