With President Bush's national poll numbers at an all-time low, the News on 6 teamed with the Tulsa World to ask Oklahomans about the war in Iraq.
Less than half of Tulsans say they approve of the way the president has managed the global war on terrorism. But the president does much better in Oklahoma City. 58 percent believe Bush is doing a good job.
Statewide, Oklahomans are equally split on the president. His approval rating equals his disapproval rating, down to a 10th of a percent.
When we asked about the president's plan to send more troops to Iraq, Tulsans said it was a bad idea. It was the opposite in Oklahoma City. More people support the surge than oppose it.
We also wanted to know if Oklahomans thought the President made a mistake by sending troops to Iraq in the first place. Again, the state was split. A majority of Tulsans say it was a mistake. That's up 10 percent from 6 months ago. In Oklahoma City, an even bigger margin supports the Iraq invasion.
Our poll has a 3 1/2 percent margin of error.
Friday’s Tulsa World will show you what Oklahomans think should happen next in Iraq.
