OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ State Health Department officials are evaluating an influenza outbreak in northeastern Oklahoma.
Health Commissioner Doctor Mike Crutcher says several schools in Craig and Ottawa counties are reporting up to half their students out sick with the flu.
He says additional flu vaccine is being shipped to the counties in an effort to vaccinate as many people as possible.
Flu symptoms begin suddenly and typically include a fever of 100 degrees or higher with chills, headache, sore throat, cough, extreme fatigue and body aches.
Most who get the flu recover in one to two weeks but some may develop pneumonia or other potentially life-threatening complications.
