An investigation is underway into how a would-be shoplifter died at a Tulsa Wal-Mart.

Tulsa Police say the suspect died after trying to escape security guards at the Wal-Mart near Admiral and Memorial Monday night.

Police officers were called to apprehend the shoplifter. When they arrived, the suspect was lying on the pavement unconscious. Officers tried to revive him, but he later died.

Wal-Mart security guards told police, the suspect ran off, and was handcuffed after a struggle.
