POOLEVILLE, Okla. (AP) _ A year after waves of wildfires charred the state, few whose homes were lost to the flames have rebuilt.
Between November 2005 and March 2006, more than three-thousand fires burned 550-thousand acres and destroyed 300 homes across the state.
One of those homes belonged to Angie Kilcrease, whose family is among the last remaining in their rural community near Pooleville in northwest Carter County.
Her family lost their home during a January 12th, 2006, fire near Ratliff City that whipped up 100-foot flames. Firefighters tracked the fire as it scorched more than 23-thousdand acres and burned 20 homes and two businesses over 48 hours.
The Kilcreases are among the few left homeless by the blaze who returned.
