McALESTER, Okla. (AP) -- A Weatherford man is facing a misdemeanor assault charge after a scuffle with a state lawmaker in McAlester.
Dallas Green was charged in Pittsburg County with one count of misdemeanor assault and battery after a tussle with state Representative Terry Harrison.
A sheriff's report indicates the incident happened last week when Harrison approached Green's trailer during a tour of the Southeast Expo Center. The 54-year-old Green was providing food to contract workers in the area following an ice storm that ravaged the area.
According to the sheriff's report, the scuffle broke out after Harrison entered Green's trailer.
Harrison claims he was asking the group in the trailer if they needed assistance when Green assaulted him.
But Green claims Harrison ignored him when he asked Harrison to leave and that the fight broke out after Green tried to stop him from entering the trailer.
Green was released on a $500 bond and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
