Tulsa Police officers want to eliminate the status quo, and they're doing it one online survey at a time.
6 in the Morning reporter Carina Sonn says the department is conducting an online citizen survey. Officers believe just like any other company, they also provide a service that can be improved.
The Tulsa Police Department says it's done different surveys over the years but the online format is new. The survey asks respondents how they feel about drug enforcement, crime prevention and officers’ behavior towards citizens. Officer Scott Walton is the public information officer for Tulsa Police. He says it's nice to hear positive feedback, but they really want folks to be honest. "We can't ever reach a level that we can just be satisfied and that "we're here and that we need to stay in this location." We're always trying to improve."
Walton encourages participants to use the ‘write in’ portions of the survey for specific comments. You can take the questionnaire online by clicking on www.tulsapolice.org. It will be available until February 9th.
The News on 6 asked Walton whether the survey has anything to do with the new pick for police chief. He said no, it's just a barometer for the department to see how well it's doing.
