A series of fights outside Booker T Washington High School in Tulsa is now the subject of an investigation by Tulsa Public Schools. The fights broke out Tuesday night outside a high school basketball game between Booker T Washington and McLain.
News on 6 reporter Chris Wright says no arrests were made following the brawl, but if any students took part in it, and are identified, school officials say they will be punished.
Tuesday night, Tulsa Police arrived at Booker T Washington High School field house and took several people into custody. Tulsa school officials say citations were issued, but everyone taken into custody was released.
Booker T's principal says there was a disturbance in the stands during the game, but no punches were thrown inside the gym. Still, the game was cancelled and after the crowd dispersed outside, that's when the fights broke out.
The school district’s director of safety and security, Jack Arnold, who will investigate the brawl, says he is trying to figure out exactly who took part in the fight. "That I don't know, we're still trying to investigate, trying to see who can identify someone, who knows someone."
Both Jack Arnold and Booker T's principal do not believe that students from either high school were involved in the brawl.
Booker T and McLain play again on February 9th. That game will now be played at Webster High School at 3:30 p.m. The game will also be pre-sold; meaning who wants to go must buy a ticket ahead of time.
