OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahoma House leaders propose eliminating 18 boards, advisory committees and task forces.

Speaker Lance Cargill said yesterday the plan came after a week of hearings to review agency budgets and spending practices.

Cargill said leaders are trying to streamline state government and make it more effective.

He said some of the task forces on the elimination list have been inactive for years.
