ALVA, Okla. (AP) -- A Billings man who'll celebrate his 100th birthday Saturday refuses to retire and is the oldest licensed GE repairman in the United States.

Francis Herde was asked 25 years ago -- on his 75th birthday -- when he was planning to retire.

He said then all his friends had retired and they're dead.

His daughter-in-law Dee Herde says Francis is still sharp mentally and earlier this month he delivered and installed a washing machine in Blackwell.
