MARLAND, Okla. (AP) -- Authorities say two people are dead and one is wounded after gunfire erupts at a party in the rural town of Marland in northern Noble County.
Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown says the incident happened shortly before 2 PM Saturday.
She says that during a party at a home, an altercation occurred in one of the rooms. She says at least two people pulled guns and a volley of gunfire ensued, wounding one person and killing another.
Authorities say a third person who had been shot ran outside the home and jumped in a vehicle. Kay County Sheriff's deputies and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol pursued the vehicle north into Ponca City.
Brown says that when the vehicle was stopped, the person who had been shot was found dead in the back seat.
She says that authorities arrested the vehicle's driver on traffic violations and a female passenger as a material witness.
