Many in residents across eastern Oklahoma are stocking up with another weekend storm on the way, but after being hit so hard last week, have grocery and hardware stores had time to re-supply?
News on 6 reporter Heather Lewin says days ago as the freezing rain began to fall, shoppers quickly cleared the shelves of just about every storm essential.
Many grocery stores are once again fully stocked. The exception was batteries, which Heather Lewin was told suppliers just weren't ready for a rush on. The other item is firewood, which is grabbed as quickly as it's put out for sale.
Home Depot at 9th and Elgin in Tulsa nearly sold out of generators. But there is one thing in such high demand they can't keep it in the store. Karl Koch with Home Depot: "The salt came in; it was gone in two and a half hours. We got it in yesterday morning, people filled their carts we had entire pallets get purchased and go right back out the door."
Koch says his store should have more sand in by Thursday, but no estimate on the salt.
Other store owners tell the News on 6, one of the biggest problems is warehouses in this part of the country were not stocked up on winter emergency supplies, because usually we're not hit quite so hard.
