Governor Brad Henry got a firsthand look Wednesday at the damage left behind by the weekend ice storm. "It's just eerie to see all of the trees literally bent over or splintered or uprooted and you don't realize that ice can do the kind of damage that it does."
The governor toured parts of McAlester and Eufaula Wednesday to see for himself just how bad the damage is. He talked to power crews and residents, sharing handshakes and kind words.
The governor says he'll ask President Bush for a "major" disaster declaration for the area as soon as possible.
Elsewhere, all of McIntosh County is under a curfew from 10 PM until 7 AM. The McIntosh County Sheriff ordered the curfew to help keep everyone safe.
