Our latest winter storm is making it tough to get anywhere, and lots of travelers were stranded in Tulsa Friday night. News on 6 reporter Jennifer Loren says no buses are coming in and none are going out. That is also the case at Tulsa International Airport.
At Tulsa International Airport, there were long lines at baggage claim. There were also a lot of long faces as people called their loved ones to tell them they won't be home.
"I'm the queen of weather delays," said Regan Anderson from Modesto, California.
This is the fourth time Regan Anderson has been stuck at an airport in recent months.
"I have been stuck in Chicago, Atlanta, Denver and now Tulsa," Anderson said.
Most people hope the runways are clear by Saturday morning. Some are not so hopeful.
"I rebooked myself on Sunday at 1:45 out of here. So 36 hour prediction. I know I'm not leaving until at least Sunday," Frank Larkin from Washington D.C. said.
But amongst all the aggravation we found one family happy to be stuck. This new grandmother gets to hold her grandson a little longer. He's visiting for the first time from Alaska where his dad is stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base.
"It’s all worth it as long as we get to stay home some more. It’s why we're here in the first place. So its alright," said Jeremy Starkey from Alaska.
Many people are choosing to rent cars to get out of Oklahoma. There have been long lines at the ticket counters all day, but others don't have a choice. They're stuck here. Hotels near the airport are booked solid.
"I'm frustrated and I'm tired and I've been in an office all week so I was dreaming of going home," said Duluth, Minnesota resident Sarah Divine.
This guy's trying to find a way home all the way to Switzerland. But as flights out of Tulsa continue to be cancelled many travelers are finding other things to do.
"So what are you going to do? Work. Get some work done? Yeah. Catch up. Maybe watch a ball game tomorrow if I don't get out in the morning," Bob Richens from Asheville, North Carolina said.
At the bus station officials say they will take a look at weather conditions again at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Until then, it looks like the only way to get out of here is by renting a car and that's probably not a very safe option.
