Air travel was impossible at Oklahoma's two major airports on Friday and there were a number of cancellations on Saturday. All flights in and out of Tulsa International Airport and Will Rogers Airport in Oklahoma City were canceled Friday afternoon due to weather conditions.
Tulsa International Airport reopened Saturday morning, but by Saturday evening, continuing icy conditions caused airlines to cancel all flights. Airport officials say early Sunday morning flights were also canceled, but airlines will decide late Sunday morning when they will resume regular flight schedules in and out of Tulsa.
Meanwhile, most flights in and out of Oklahoma City won't resume until Monday or Tuesday. Almost every flight out of Will Rogers Airport is either canceled or delayed. Most stranded passengers are having to wait it out at the airport or in nearby hotels. The Will Rogers World Airport remains open.
Experts say it's wise to call your airline before your flight to see if it's on schedule. Passengers are also advised to bring a carry on with their important personal items, in case travel plans change.
