OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A hearing on whether a former judge convicted of indecent exposure can have his state pension returned is delayed until March.
Donald Thompson was scheduled to appear Wednesday at an Oklahoma Public Employees Retirement System hearing, during which his bid to have his annual pension of $93,474 restored was to be discussed.
But the state Corrections Department did not release him to attend the hearing, citing cost and notification reasons, so the hearing was reset for March.
Thompson's attorneys had asked on December 26th that Thompson be temporarily released for the pension hearing. The judge that presided over Thompson's trial, C. Allen McCall, approved the request the next day.
Attorneys for the state Corrections Department challenged McCall's order. They said prison officials weren't given sufficient notice and complained that the order did not require Thompson to repay the department for transportation costs.
