Rookie firefighters had their work cut out for them Wednesday evening.
Cadets from Tulsa and Broken Arrow had to work together to put out a natural gas fire at the training academy. It's part of the requirements to become a full-fledged firefighter.
Also on hand Wednesday, the rookies' relatives who came at the special invitation of the fire trainers.
Tulsa Fire Captain Dannie Caldwell: "They need to see what's going on to understand when these firefighters come home from work and try to explain it to them, they can say, I was there, I saw it, and I believe."
This was the first joint training exercise with cadets from Tulsa and Broken Arrow.
