OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahoma native and former Miami coach Larry Coker is being mentioned as a candidate to take over at Tulsa.

The Golden Hurricane are looking for a replacement for Steve Kragthorpe who was hired by Louisville Tuesday.

Coker began his coaching career as an assistant at TU in 1979. He was recently fired by Miami despite a 60-and-15 record during the past six years and a national championship.

Others being mentioned as possible candidates are current TU offensive coordinator Charlie Stubbs; Florida assistant Charlie Strong and Illinois State coach Denver Johnson.
