Attorney: Suspect knows nothing about Darrent Williams shooting

DENVER (AP) _ A lawyer for a man being questioned about the death of Denver Broncos cornerback and former Oklahoma State standout Darrent Williams says his client knows nothing about the shooting.

Attorney Michael Andre says Willie Clark's arrest for an alleged parole violation is the result of mistaken identity.

Williams was shot as he drove away from a New Year's Eve party at a nightclub in a stretch Hummer limousine. Police won't say whether they know the motive for the slaying but have said there was an altercation at the club.

Denver Police aren't calling Clark a suspect but said they hoped he could provide information that could help solve the case.

Clark grew up in the same neighborhood as 28-year-old Brian Hicks, the registered owner of a 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe that's similar to a vehicle used in the shooting that witnesses described.

Hicks has been jailed since November 9th on a drug possession charge.
