PROVO, Utah (AP) _ BYU basketball player Rashaun Broadus was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving following his best game of the season.
Officers reported a ``strong smell of alcohol'' when Broadus was pulled over while driving Interstate 15 about 5 a.m. Sunday, said Trooper Preston Raban of the Utah Highway Patrol.
He was taken to the Utah County Jail and booked for speeding, not having a driver's license, improperly tinted windows and suspicion of drunken driving, Raban said. Broadus failed sobriety tests and refused a breath test, the trooper said. He was released about two hours later.
Broadus is in his second season at BYU after transferring from Western Nebraska Community College. He scored 19 points Saturday to lead the Cougars over San Diego State.
School officials did not immediately return a phone call Monday. Broadus' phone number is not listed. He did not immediately respond to an e-mail from The Associated Press.
