Tulsa Police bust an internet prostitution ring. Officers say a Tulsa woman was using a popular website for classified ads to sell sex. Both the woman and her husband were arrested Wednesday night for prostitution.
News on 6 reporter Ashli Sims says you may be familiar with the website Craigs List, it's basically an online classified ad. Users post jobs, housing, even stuff you'd see at a garage sale. But Tulsa Police say the website has a seamier side.
Police on the West Coast have busted dozens of prostitutes using Craig's list to sell sex. Tulsa Police officers say those investigations prompted them to take a look at Tulsa's Craigs List to see if it was happening here. Buried among the sublets and tools for sale, there's a section called erotic services.
Tulsa Police say that's where they found an ad for an Asian escort. Officers say they made contact with the woman in the ad and arranged to meet her at a south Tulsa motel. That's when they arrested 26-year-old Elizabeth Link. She was booked into the Tulsa County jail on one misdemeanor count of prostitution and a felony count of sexual battery.
Police say they also picked up her driver, Jermaine Link, who turned out to be her husband. He was booked for running a house of prostitution. Jermaine is a registered sex offender who was convicted of second degree rape in 2000.
Elizabeth and Jermaine Link were the only two arrested. But officers say they found an appointment book listing as many as six to ten women with various appointments. So this could be just the tip of the iceberg.
