A south Tulsa neighborhood that's fed up with burglaries fights back and now 2 suspects are behind bars.
News on 6 reporter Steve Berg says the entire Litchfield neighborhood has been a magnet for burglars over the past few months.
Thursday morning, was just the latest. But this time, the homeowner was ready. Amber Jacobsen and her husband Ethan watched the whole scene from a bedroom window. "Peeked out the window. We didn't turn the light on, because we didn't want the suspects to know that we were spying on them."
Amber says she had heard a car door slam and immediately thought of the past burglaries. "It's a dead end over here, so if anybody comes over here, they're either lost or they're visiting, and I felt it. Y'know it was just one of those things where I had a weird feeling."
She says it didn't look like they were visiting. "Ethan saw them hop their fence and go into their backyard, and he said call Marcie and Jason, their house is being broken into."
Amber says the neighborhood has been hit hard by burglaries. Just off the top of her head, she says there have been 4 burglaries and 3 attempted burglaries in the past year alone. This time though, Amber's neighbor came out with a gun and ordered the men to stop, that's when she says they jumped in their vehicle. "The driver got in and almost ran over Jason, and he had to move out of the way, and he shot at the vehicle."
Tulsa Police nabbed Dustin Furra and Daniel Miller not far down the road. They could face charges of attempted 1st degree burglary and also assault with a deadly weapon because Tulsa Police say they drove their car toward the neighbor.
