OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Remington Park officials say Wednesday that the track drew more than 1.3 million fans in 2006, the third-highest yearly attendance figure in the track's 19-year history.
The track held two race meets during 2006, a 50-day quarter-horse meet and a 68-day thoroughbred meet. It's the first time the track has passed the one-million fan mark since 1994.
The 2006 attendance total ranks behind only 1990 and 1989 in the track's history. Remington Park drew 1.5 million and 1.49 million fans, respectively, during those years.
The track opened in 1988.
Track officials attribute the increased attendance to an on-track casino that opened in November 2005 and a business model that offers either live or simulcast horse racing every day of the year.
