SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) 7th-ranked Oklahoma is being portrayed as the Goliath to 9th-ranked Boise State's David in Monday'sFiesta Bowl.

But it wasn't so long ago that OU coach Bob Stoops was working to convince his Sooners they belonged in a BCS bowl game.

OU had finished .500 or worse the five years before he took over but in his second season Stoops led the Sooners to the Orange Bowl for the team's first BCS appearance.

OU beat Florida State in that game to claim the school's seventh national title but Stoops says he spent much time just convincing his players they deserved to be there.

Now anything less than a BCS bowl is a disappointment and Stoops say he has no problem with that.
