OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A little target practice turned into a lot of hard luck for an Oklahoma City woman.

Police say 23-year-old Anna Herrera-Gomez was firing a pistol at an indoor gun range on Tuesday when a hot shell casing -- ejected from the 9 millimeter gun she was shooting -- fell down the front of her shirt.

Sergeant Gary Knight says the woman jumped as the hot metal touched her skin and she reached for her chest. That's when she accidentally shot herself in the leg.

Herrera-Gomez suffered a minor leg wound and was taken to the University of Oklahoma Medical Center. Officials say a paramedic who happened to be target shooting at the range came to her aid.
