OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A bill is being filed in the state Senate that would make English the official language of Oklahoma.

State Senator Kathleen Wilcoxson says she's filing the bill because English is the language in which the state should conduct its business.

Under the bill state agencies, local governments or other political subdivisions could not be forced to provide any document or other written materials in any language other than English. The documents or other materials could be provided by the governmental agencies if they decide on their own to do so.

The legislative session begins in February.
