Hazmat crews are called to a suspicious fire at the Country Hollow Apartments, Tuesday afternoon.

The blaze is sparking speculation that meth makers may have moved into South Tulsa.

The fire started in the kitchen of a unit at the apartments at 4600 E. 80th, officials said.

Investigators discovered a suspicious powder, liquid, and a burned soda can on the floor of the apartment. Police say the residents may have been using the ingredients to make meth.

“Anytime you find an apartment where there's a fire, and people leave hurriedly without calling the fire department, you know, it peaks our suspicion right away,” Tulsa Police Sergeant Gary Fritts said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials say arson has been ruled out as a possible cause.
