Police find woman, 2 children dead in Arkansas apartment, arrest woman's boyfriend

FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) _ Police arrested a man in the deaths of his girlfriend and her two young children, whose bodies were found in their apartment and may have been there for nearly a week.

Police were called to the apartment complex late Monday about a suicidal person, authorities said. That's when they discovered the bodies of Bridget Barr, 28, her 5-year-old daughter, Sydney, and 2-year-old son, Garrett. It wasn't immediately clear how the three died.

Barr's boyfriend, James Aaron Miller, 30, was arrested, police Sgt. Jarrard Copeland said Tuesday.

Copeland said police suspect that the apartment was cleaned after Barr and her children died and that Miller may have been living there with the bodies for up to six days.

``I only say that because when you think about three bodies being murdered inside of a small apartment, you'd expect a pretty gruesome scene, but there's not a lot of evidence of that,'' Copeland said.
