The Christmas ham and cranberries have barely settled, but many shoppers spent the day returning items and hitting the clearance racks for post Christmas discounts.
News on 6 reporter Carina Sonn met up with some of those post-holiday shoppers.
"I try to hit the sales every year, every year," shopper Sandy Ferguson said.
Sandy didn't wait in line Tuesday morning for Target's 7am opening, but she and her friend Brenda Gates did get off to an early start.
"I was at her house at 7:30 a.m. and then we hit one store before this one and this is the second store," said shopper Brenda Gates.
The pair plan on stopping at several different stores Tuesday, looking for Christmas items at discount prices.
"We're going to hit another Lowe's and probably another Target and maybe a Hobby Lobby," Gates said.
"Tons of traffic, we have tons of people coming in and shopping our seasonal products," Target Manager Chrissy Liniger said.
Liniger says there are a few others who just want to return gifts or exchange them, for those folks, she has this advice.
"The most important thing is to have a receipt or get a gift receipt from whoever bought it for you, it makes the transaction easy, smooth, you can just come in, get what you came for exchange it, all that," Liniger said.
Some people are spending their time in the guest services line making returns or exchanges, but with prices reduced by 50%, you're going to be seeing a lot of empty clearance boxes, and some damage to the checkbook.
"Don't tell my husband probably about a hundred, a hundred and fifty, maybe more," Ferguson said.
Paying those discounted prices now may save them money later on.
A recent survey says half of consumers plan to do some post-Christmas sale shopping, and almost 40% of shoppers are looking for clothing.
