MILWAUKEE (AP) _ NL championship series MVP Jeff Suppan has reached a preliminary agreement on a 42 million dollar deal with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Suppan must pass a physical for the four-year contract to be finalized.
The Brewers annnounced the agreement Sunday. His contract includes a team option for 2011 with a two million dollar buyout.
The 31-year-old right-hander went 12-and-7 with a 4.12 ER-A for St. Louis this year.
Brewers general manager Doug Melvin says Suppan gives Milwaukee a ``big-game pitcher.''
Milwaukee is coming off a 75-and-87 season.
Suppan _ who has a career record of 106-and-101 _ has also pitched for Boston, Arizona, Kansas City and Pittsburgh.
