GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) The Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings are longtime rivals with a series record of 45-45-1. Thursday the series resumes with a game in Green Bay that has playoff implications for each club.

Yes, believe it or not, despite the fact each club has a mark of 8-6, this game has playoff implications.

This evening's contest is the last home game for the Packers, which means it could be the final home game for Brett Favre. The veteran quarterback hasn't announced his future plans but retirement remains an option.

For the Vikings, the man behind center will be Tarvaris Jackson, who is making his first NFL start. He's replacing the benched Brad Johnson.

The two clubs met last month in the Metrodome with the Packers winning, 23-17.
