A Tulsa woman is being called a hero for her efforts to help change a young girl's life. Volunteer Heather Williams is gaining national attention for her work in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. Williams doesn't call herself a hero, but that's exactly what she is to 17-year old Antwanette Starks. The two were matched as 'big' and 'little' when Antwanette was just 9-years old.
Heather Williams, Nationally Recognized Big Sister: "We spend time together, we study together we talk about things together, we solve problems together and it's just a bond that's unbreakable, just like a biological sister would have, Antwanette and I have that bond together."
Williams was honored with the national "Heroes in Our Midst" award... and one-thousand dollars given in her name to Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
Williams' award is sponsored by the Greeting Card Association which will donate another 5-thousand dollars in her honor, if she receives the most cards of congratulations in the country.
If you would like to send Heather Williams a card, her address is Heather Williams, 3015 E Skelly Drive, Suite 211, Tulsa, OK 74105.
