The Jenks Trojans walk away from Friday nights Class 6A Championship game with another state title. The Trojans take home their 11th state championship defeating Enid, 28-7.
The Plainsmen were a playoff surprise after a 3-4 start; they had won six straight going into Friday’s game.
Jenks fans were out in force at TU’s Skelly Stadium raising #76 signs to honor Garrett Bennett; the 17-year-old died before the season started.
In the 1st half, the Jenks defense sacked Enid’s Austin Box 5 times. 2nd quarter, Chris Adkins takes it in from a yard out putting Jenks on the board first, 7-0. The Plainsmen pinned on their own 2-yard line put together a 14 play, 98-yard drive to knot the score, 7-all. But the Trojans answered, the score at the half 14-7.
QB Mark Ginther added a keeper in the 2nd half and a touchdown pass, dashing Enid’s dreams of a gold ball, final score 28-7.
Jenks nabs its 11th title, the 7th under head coach Alan Trimble, who was proud of his team.

“Really just all the hard work we put into it, cause we started off the season in November after we lost the first round, we put it in our minds we were going to win the state championship and we worked hard every day,†junior RB Chris Adkins said.
“It’s awesome, I just feel great to get this tradition back, it’s great to play in this uniform, on this field, everything, it’s just a great atmosphere,†said quarterback Mark Ginther.
Ginther was the star of the game with 2 touchdown passes, and a TD run. Jenks defense also got the job done holding Austin Box and his Plainsmen to just 7 points.
The Trojans finish the season 13-1, Enid walks away with a 9-5 record.
