Tulsa Police arrested a bank robbery suspect Wednesday after a long standoff at a west Tulsa apartment complex.

News on 6 reporter Emory Bryan says police tracked the suspect with a police dog and have now connected him with not just Wednesday's credit union robbery, but also the robbery Tuesday of a nearby bank.

The robbery Wednesday at the Tulsa Municipal Employees Federal Credit Union in the 1100 block of West 17th Street followed another nearby just a day earlier. The credit union was hit by a robber who said he had a gun. He fled on foot and within minutes, a police dog had tracked him to the Brightwaters Apartments at 21st and Olympia.

The suspect went into an apartment with a man, woman and child inside. The woman and child fled, but it took some talking before Tulsa Police got the man out - who was questioned but not arrested.

With only the suspect left inside, Tulsa Police waited hours, with guns drawn, while trying to talk the man out. Tulsa Police officer Scott Walton: “we spent several hours out here trying to negotiate and it was after the deployment of gas into the apartment he came out.”

Police arrested 43 year old Dwight Woodard, who they say is the suspect from Tuesday's robbery of a Community Bank on Southwest Boulevard. in the same neighborhood. The suspect asked for $500 but didn't show a weapon. He got away with $75.

Tulsa Police took no chances surrounding the double robbery suspect and in the end, forced him out with gas and no injuries to anyone. Tulsa Police talked with the suspect for four hours before shooting in the gas. They say he was asking for his mother and seemed to be stalling before negotiations broke down.

Woodard has a prison record, for burglary and he's served time in jail for that.
